Making friends.....

My neighborhood has a lot of children. I think I should know my neighbors and have a good relationship with them. I decided that making friends with the kids is a good way to start. Today four girls came over to bake cookies. Baking and creating a mess in the kitchen is a sure way to build fun memories and besides I love having a "buzz" of activity in my home; children laughing, people talking and fun stuff happening. I told the girls you can't be a great baker unless you are wearing flour on your face. Above, you can see that Abby and Bailey are great bakers!!
Megan with her finished cookies...so cute...both Megan and the cookies!
Briley with her cookies. She was the quietest and got the most finished. She just worked and worked.

Somewhere over the rainbow.....

I'm not in Kansas anymore, but...we did experience a beautiful rainbow here in Arizona. After a huge rainstorm we looked outside and saw a perfect, full rainbow! Beautiful!!

Easter fun....

What could be more fun than spending Good Friday in the kitchen with cookies, frosting, sprinkles and grandkids? The answer would be: Nothing! I had baked the egg-shaped cookies ahead of time so that the time would be spent doing the fun part...decorating! Cara, Anya and Harrison all lined up at the counter, standing on chairs and were ready to get creative.
Harrison mostly enjoyed eating frosting...a lot of frosting!!!
Cara totally enjoyed it all.
Anya was focused and doing a great job!
These are Anya's cookies that she did! Beautiful..
These are Cara's finished products....Lovely.
Harrison really liked shaking colored sugar on his cookies...and the counter...and the floor..but for a little guy who is only 20 months old he did a great job!
I decorated a cookie for each child and added their name!
We all had a good time and created a sweet memory!

Better late than never.....

Six years ago I stopped at a little quilt shop in Higginsville, Missouri and purchased this beautiful fabric for a quilt for my first granddaughter, Cara. Life got crazy and the fabric was set aside. Since having time at home I finally pulled it out, cut the pieces and sewed the quilt together. Last night I finished tying it and tomorrow I will give it to my 5th granddaughter, Cara's baby sister, Ella. At least it's done.!!! At least it will be in the same family it was intended for!
I'm just happy to have made it.

Cookies too pretty to eat?

There is nothing I enjoy more than creating something cute, lovely, fun or all of those things roll into one. I came across some beautifully decorated cookies and decided to try it out myself. Above are the first attempts at making "embroidered" cookies. I thought Easter egg cookies in Tiffany blue would be a great item to make for now. They took some extra effort, but overall I am very pleased with the finished product. I can't wait to make them again and try out this technique in another way!!! Let me know what you think!!!
