Here's a dose of reality...

Okay, so I was driving along listening to some talk program on Pilates and how good that can be...when the woman speaking said something that almost caused me to run off the road...here it is..."50 is considered a 'senior citizen'." What the heck!?!?!?! A couple weeks ago I was promoted to a Senior Account Executive. I was excited, not really about the title, but more importantly, about the raise that came with the title. Now I'm not so certain that I want to be called a Senior Account Executive...nor do I want that added to my name badge...afterall..wouldn't that just mean I was advertizing my new found status as a 'senior' citizen. I need to rethink this whole thing....how's that for reality?

How long does it take to remodel a home....?

I'm just getting ready to start on my second half of the basement ceiling. By that I mean, putting a texture on the ceiling. If anyone is ever considering doing this, call me first, because this is one job that I would actually hire out. Saturday afternoon was my first attempt. I knew it would be incredibly messy, but had no idea how hard it was. Every 5 minutes you have to reload the roller. It takes forever and ever to make any progress! I'm all about speed...you know actually getting the job done the same day you start it. So tonight is the night to finish the ceiling...at least texturing....later I will need to hit it with a coat of paint. I've lived in this house for exactly ten years. The first time I walked in the door I saw a vision of how it could look. I was able to see past the 20 year old open weave drapes, the deer heads, fish and numerous other dead animals hanging on the walls, the horrible wall paper and the layers of nicotine coating every surface...and slowly it's finally coming together. In the past two months I have repainted my bedroom, enameled the woodwork, layed new flooring in the bathrooms , painted the 'extra' bedroom (soon to be my sewing/whatever space), painted the hallway, all while the basement was being completely remodeled. And very soon the work will be complete. I will post photos of the finished work!! But now...I'm off the do the ceilings....

I figured out backgrounds...

For those who will read this in the future, you may just laugh at me for being so excited over setting up a background. One of the things I like about blogging is how it looks...looks DO count for something, even if it's just for my own enjoyment! Soon I'll be up to full speed and showing off pictures....maybe that's part of the 'daydream?'

My very first blog...how exciting!

Everyone is blogging and now I am too. What to say? Where to begin? Let's see....today we celebrated July4th, but almost as important as the birth of our great nation is the birth of my dear mother. Today she celebrated her 73rd birthday. She has battle rheumatoid arthritis for the past 30+ years and faced lymphomea and chemotherapy for nearly 7 years now. The most amazing thing about her is that she presses forward each day with joy and a calm spirit. She doesn't let anything get her down. She doesn't complain. She never gives up! So how appropriate that she was born on the day we celebrate the birth of our nation. This picture of me, my mom and Courtney was taken just days before Courtney moved away. We had gone to dinner and it was a fun time!
